Home Purchases With a Guaranteed Mortgage, April Through June 2026

How many home purchases in Maryland and the United States from April through June 2026 used a mortgage guaranteed through one federal agency: both counts as published, what they cover, and what they leave out.

One of our daily housing videos counts home purchases made with a mortgage guaranteed through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, for Maryland and for the United States. This page lists both figures exactly as the publisher reported them, explains what the count covers and what it leaves out, and links to the source.

Not affiliated with any government agency. The agency is named here only as the publisher of the figures.

The count, April through June 2026

The figures come from the quarterly loan volume by state report of the agency's Loan Guaranty Service, for the third quarter of the federal fiscal year 2026, which ran from April through June 2026. We use the purchase column only.

  • · Maryland: 2,101 home-purchase mortgages
  • · United States, total including territories: 93,234 home-purchase mortgages

What this count covers

Each figure counts home-purchase mortgages guaranteed through the agency during the quarter: in Maryland, and in total. The total is the publisher's own grand total. It adds up every row in the publisher's file, which lists territories such as Guam, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands alongside the states, so we label it "including territories" wherever it appears.

This page describes a count, not the program behind it. The agency's own pages explain how its guaranty works and who may use it.

What the count leaves out

The count covers home purchases only. The same report lists refinances in separate columns, and our chart shows the purchase column alone.

It is also not the number of all home purchases. Mortgages without this agency's guaranty are not in it, and neither are homes bought with cash. It is a count of mortgages, not dollars, so it says nothing about the price of the homes or the size of the mortgages.

Each figure covers one quarter, and we never add quarters together.

When the figures came out

The publisher does not post a release calendar for this report. The release date on our chart is the date of the quarter's file on the publisher's site, Jul 20, 2026. The report for the following quarter, July through September, had not been posted when this page was written. Once it is, the figures on this page describe an earlier quarter.
